Hi, I'm Alex, a fly angler based in Rochester, New York.

I built this site to solve my own problem. Before a trip I'd check the USGS water data and NY DEC pages to see what the rivers were doing, and I found them hard to read quickly, especially on a phone. I wanted one simple page that showed flows, water temperature, weather, recent stocking and what's likely hatching for the rivers I fish.

Western New York Fly Fishing pulls that information together for the Salmon River, Genesee River, Oak Orchard Creek, Cattaraugus Creek, Sandy Creek and Oatka Creek.
